Following the death of Eliza Marr, widow, of No. 6, the chair was set outside the east door as is the old custom; at first light it was found turned inward toward the house, Mrs Marr’s eldest girl refusing thereafter to enter the house and being taken in by neighbours for three nights.
On the fourth morning the chair was gone, though no person admitted to moving it; Eliza Marr was afterwards said to have been seen twice at the upper window, once by J. Ashby and once by Mrs Ada Green.
House stood empty until Spring.
